SCADA Memory Vault
A SCADA data analysis tool that reconstructs operational histories from fragmented logs, inspired by non-linear storytelling and historical price tracking.
Inspired by the non-linear narrative of 'Memento' and the historical data tracking in an 'E-Commerce Pricing' scraper, the 'SCADA Memory Vault' is a project designed to reconstruct and visualize the operational history of SCADA systems from fragmented and potentially incomplete log data. The novel 'Nightfall' provides thematic inspiration by exploring the loss and retrieval of critical information. In SCADA systems, log files can become corrupted, overwritten, or simply stored in disparate locations, making it difficult to understand past events, troubleshoot failures, or identify patterns. This project aims to create a user-friendly, low-cost application that can ingest various SCADA log formats (e.g., CSV, JSON, plain text). Using techniques inspired by data scraping and time-series analysis, the tool will parse these logs, identify timestamps and key operational parameters (e.g., sensor readings, valve states, alarm events), and then attempt to reconstruct a coherent chronological narrative of the system's operation. It will present this reconstructed history through an interactive timeline, allowing users to 'rewind' and 'play' the system's past. The niche aspect lies in its focus on fragmented SCADA data, a common pain point for many industrial facilities, especially smaller ones that may not have advanced data management solutions. The low-cost implementation can be achieved using open-source libraries for data parsing and visualization. The high earning potential comes from offering this as a specialized service or software to industries requiring robust incident investigation, predictive maintenance insights, and compliance reporting from their SCADA data, even when legacy or incomplete logs are the only source of truth.
