GeneaLogix: Your Family's Medical Atlas
A secure, cloud-based platform for families to collaboratively build, visualize, and analyze their multi-generational medical history. It transforms scattered personal records into a clear, actionable map of hereditary health risks.
GeneaLogix is a niche SaaS platform designed for individuals and families to become archivists of their own most valuable, yet scattered, resource: their collective medical history.
The Story & Inspiration
- From 'Dune', we take the concept of a precious, vital resource that dictates the future—not spice, but hereditary data. A family's medical history is a 'Great House' archive, holding keys to predispositions and future health. GeneaLogix allows you to control and understand your own 'spice'.
- From 'Inception', we borrow the idea of layered information. A simple diagnosis is the surface dream; the lab results that led to it are a layer deeper; the genetic markers and family history behind it are the core 'limbo' level. The goal is to navigate these layers to extract a clear idea: your personal risk profile.
- From the 'University Rankings' scraper, we apply the principle of data aggregation and structured presentation. Instead of scraping websites, the platform empowers users to 'scrape' their own chaotic mess of PDF reports, doctor's notes, and lab results using OCR technology, turning unstructured data into a ranked and prioritized list of insights.
The Concept & How It Works
GeneaLogix is not a replacement for an Electronic Health Record (EHR). It is a personal health intelligence tool focused exclusively on lineage.
1. The Ingestion Engine (The 'Scraper'):
Users create a profile and upload their medical documents in any format (PDF, JPG, etc.). The system uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract and suggest key data points: diagnoses, procedures, lab values, and dates. The user verifies and curates this data, building their personal, structured medical timeline.
2. The Family Tree (The 'Dynasty'):
The core of the platform is a collaborative family tree. A user can invite relatives (parents, siblings, children) to create their own private, secure accounts. Each member manages their own data, but can grant permission for their anonymized data points to be used in a family-wide analysis. This creates a powerful, living map of health across generations.
3. The Insight Navigator (The 'Deep Dive'):
The platform visualizes the aggregated data in intuitive, layered views:
- Surface View: A visual family tree highlighting major medical events and conditions (e.g., 'Grandfather - Heart Attack @ 55').
- Data View: Clicking an event allows the user to 'go deeper', revealing the specific, verified data and source documents associated with it.
- Insight View: The system analyzes the multi-generational data to identify and flag potential hereditary patterns. It doesn't diagnose, but generates a 'Hereditary Risk Report'—an exportable summary that highlights trends (e.g., 'A pattern of early-onset Type 2 Diabetes is observed on the maternal side').
Business Model (Niche, Low-Cost, High-Potential)
- Niche Market: Targets proactive individuals, families with known hereditary diseases, patients of genetic counselors, and those interested in 'medical genealogy'.
- Low-Cost Implementation: Built as a web application using standard cloud services for storage (AWS S3) and pay-as-you-go OCR (AWS Textract), making it achievable for an individual or small team.
- Earning Potential:
- Freemium Subscription: A free tier for one user with limited storage. Paid monthly/annual plans for family collaboration, unlimited storage, and advanced reporting features.
- Pay-Per-Report: A one-time fee to generate and export the comprehensive 'Hereditary Risk Report' to share with a physician.
- B2B2C Channel: Partner with genetic counseling services and concierge medicine practices who can offer the platform as a premium tool for their clients.
