Menu Cost Auditor

A niche accounting tool that helps restaurants analyze their menu item profitability by scraping ingredient costs and applying them to menu prices.

Inspired by the 'Restaurant Menus' scraper project, this tool leverages web scraping to gather real-time ingredient prices from various suppliers. Drawing from the strategic foresight of 'Foundation' and the layered analysis of 'Inception', the 'Menu Cost Auditor' aims to provide restaurant owners with deep insights into their menu's financial health. Users input their menu items and associated ingredients. The software then scrapes designated supplier websites for the current cost of each ingredient. It calculates the direct cost of goods sold (COGS) for each menu item. Furthermore, it offers a 'profit layering' feature, allowing users to simulate the impact of fluctuating ingredient costs on their overall profit margins, much like the layered dreams in 'Inception'. This niche tool addresses a critical pain point for restaurateurs – understanding true profitability beyond just sales figures – offering a low-cost, easily implementable solution with high earning potential through subscription models or one-time audits for businesses.
